The Old Media Reporting Through a Leftist Lens
~ Okinawa Prefecture – Profaning Even Human Life for Their Political Ideology ~

  • The reason we refer to this as an “incident” rather than an “accident” is that the precious life of a high school student was lost because left-wing individuals imposed their political ideology. Also, we believe this incident is extremely shrouded  in mystery, involving not only civic groups opposing the Henoko relocation but also educational institutions and local governments that support them.

We are getting a little emotional this time.
Even though the old media is essentially biased, we believed they would continue to report on this incident with thorough investigation into the cause and accountability regardless of political ideology, because the precious life of a high school student was lost.
However, the old media’s stance continues to defend the party that caused the incident.

One positive outcome of social media becoming widespread among the public is that the biased reporting of the old media has been revealed to the citizens.
The old media and their personalities dissatisfied with this are now demanding that social media be regulated by law, as if claiming they alone are special.

It’s impossible to demand that the old media report on Henoko capsizing incident in a fair and neutral manner.
What has become clear in this incident is that the old media isn’t engaging in biased reporting but is simply reporting from their own political standpoint.

Marine Transportation Act

(Definitions)
Article 2
8. In this Act, the term “non-scheduled shipping service” means a shipping operation other than a regular shipping service, and is classified into passenger non-scheduled shipping services, general non-scheduled shipping services, and cargo-only non-scheduled shipping services.
9. In this Act, the term “passenger non-scheduled shipping service” means a non-scheduled shipping service that transports passengers by operating passenger ships on a specific route (excluding those that transport passengers between a port in Japan and a port in a non-Japanese region, or between ports in non-Japanese regions, and those that transport passengers within a specific scope in response to the demand of a specific party); “general non-scheduled route service” means a non-scheduled route service that transports passengers, other than a passenger non-scheduled route service, and “cargo-only non-scheduled route service” means a non-scheduled route service other than a passenger non-scheduled route service or a general non-scheduled route service.

(General Non-Scheduled Shipping Services)
Article 22 Any person intending to operate a general non-scheduled shipping service must be registered by the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.
2. The provisions of Articles 10-2 through 10-8, Article 19, paragraph 2, Article 19-3, Article 19-4, Article 19-7, paragraphs 2 and 3, Articles 19-8 through 19-10, and Articles 19-12 through 19-15 shall apply mutates mutants to general non-scheduled shipping services and the registration referred to in the preceding paragraph. In this case, the term “terminal” in Article 19-7, paragraph 2, item ii shall be read as “terminal or the waters traversed,” and the term “Register of International Passenger Regular Route Operators” in Article 19-8, paragraphs 1 and 3, Article 19-10, paragraph 2, and Article 19-12, paragraph 3 shall be read as “Register of General Irregular Route Operators.”
3. The provisions of Article 13, Article 19-2, and Article 19-11 shall apply mutates mutants to general non-scheduled shipping service operations (excluding those that transport persons within a specific scope in response to the demand of a specific person; the same shall apply in Article 32-2).
4. The provisions of Article 15 and Article 19-17 shall apply mutates mutants to general non-scheduled shipping services (limited to those that transport passengers using passenger ships between ports in Japan and ports in regions outside Japan, or between ports in regions outside Japan). In this case, the phrase “paragraph 1 of the preceding Article” in said Article shall be read as “paragraph 4 of Article 22.”
5. The provisions of Article 15 shall apply mutates mutants to general irregular shipping services (limited to those operated between ports within Japan that do not transport specific categories of persons in response to the demand of specific parties; and, for those operated between a port in Japan and a port in a region outside Japan or between ports in regions outside Japan, limited to those operated using boats other than passenger ships).

In an anti-Japan program, despite the Takaichi administration having clearly documented its policies, there was a person who made a statement about the House of Representatives dissolution that could be interpreted as fake news, stating, “It’s the same as asking for a blank check. Please vote on whether I should remain Prime Minister. This dissolution is about that”.
For this person, this is simply normal behavior, and toward individuals with differing political standpoint, he consistently argues his own views and fundamentally rejects theirs, regardless of the circumstances. However, regarding the recent Henoko capsizing incident, he stated that he would “refrain from criticizing it because he doesn’t understand the situation”.
This double standard has become the norm on this program.

For the old media, their political ideology is more important than their conscience.
Like the program I mentioned as the example, many outlets in the old media maintain the same stance.
Originally, the media should have taken the lead in investigating the cause and accountability. However, they are intentionally avoiding coverage of the “Henoko Offshore Helicopter Base Opposition Association” which operated the boats.
Even so, since lives were lost, they are continuing their utterly two-faced reporting by superficially covering Doshisha International High School and the victims.

The “Henoko Offshore Helicopter Base Opposition Association” which the old media has been intentionally avoiding coverage of, is operating boats with passengers on board and is reportedly suspected of violating the Marine Transportation Act.
The Marine Transportation Act stipulates that registration is required when providing transportation services to meet the needs of others, meaning that the “Henoko Offshore Helicopter Base Opposition Association” the civic group operating the boats, is required to register as a business.
However, at a press conference, theHenoko Offshore Helicopter Base Opposition Association stated that it had not registered as a business under the Marine Transportation Act because its operations are conducted by volunteers.

It’s easy to understand that if the U.S. military had been responsible for this incident, the old media would have continued to lambast them relentlessly, regardless of the facts or the circumstances.
It’s become abundantly clear that it’s impossible to expect the old media to fulfill what many people consider to be the true role of the media.

As if supporting this civic group, the Okinawa Prefectural Government has clearly identified the “Henoko relocation” as a ‘problem’ on its official website. As reported by the Sankei Shimbun, banners reading “We’ll do our best alongside Governor Denny” have been displayed at protests against the Henoko relocation.
In other words, this banner suggests that “All Okinawa” (Just as left-wing activists refer to participation in protests against the Henoko relocation as “peace education,” they also use the term “All” to describe gatherings of certain groups.) which supports Governor Denny is also involved with Henoko Offshore Helicopter Base Opposition Association.

This tragic incident might have been prevented.
However, it would not be wrong to say that Okinawa Prefecture and the Okinawa Prefectural Police refused to prevent it.
As some of you may remember, there was the incident in which a security guard died while trying to stop the female activist protesting the Henoko relocation who attempted to run in front of a dump truck carrying soil to obstruct its passage.
Okinawa Governor Denny Tamaki sympathized with the activists and, as if profaning the deceased security guard, attributed the incident to the dump truck operators.
Additionally, it is reported that the contractor had repeatedly requested the installation of guardrails, but the prefecture refused because it would “restrict pedestrian crossings”.
Who exactly does Okinawa Prefecture mean by “pedestrians” in this location ?

It is possible that this tragic incident would not have occurred if Okinawa Prefecture and the Okinawa Prefectural Police had strictly dealt with the illegal “tents serving as bases for the movement opposing the Henoko relocation that were set up on roads without permission” in response to this incident.
However, Okinawa Prefecture and the Okinawa Prefectural Police prioritized the activists over the law.Is the Okinawa Prefectural Police able to arrest other criminals ? If they are making arrests, they cannot avoid the perception that they are targeting only individuals whose political ideology differ from their own.
Okinawa Prefecture also cannot avoid the perception that it is supporting activists. And given its current stance, it cannot avoid the perception that it is using tax money to support activists.

Okinawa Governor Denny Tamaki claims “precious lives” in the two-faced statement.
However, it seems Okinawa Prefecture is once again prioritizing political ideology over human life and will respond in the same way as it did in the previous incident.
In other words, it seems that public institutions like Okinawa Prefecture and the Okinawa Prefectural Police consider neither the law nor the precious lives of high school students significant when it comes to protecting their own political ideology.

Although the Communist Party and the Social Democratic Party are shouting “Fulfill your accountability!” toward political parties with different ideologies, they are strangely avoiding providing any explanation regarding this incident.
The SDP’s Secretary-General has stated “We want to work together to overcome this crisis in order to avoid bashing against peace education,” and “It is wrong to continue the construction of the new base in Henoko indefinitely. If they hadn’t done this, this kind of incident wouldn’t have happened”, which is profane to the precious life of the high school student and her family. These people are arguing that such activities should continue, even though they have caused this incident where a high school student lost her precious life after being made to participate in a civic group’s protest under the guise of “peace education.”

I won’t dive deep into the specifics of each political party, but the point is that the JCP and the SDP’s stance on this incident is exactly the same as that of the old media.
As we are sure you all understand, the old media isn’t actually liberal. They’re left-wing.
We think calling the old media “liberal” is extremely disrespectful to true liberals.

As we mentioned in another post titled “Liberals and Lefty-wingers”, the difference between the two seems to be whether they prioritize freedom or equality (particularly economic equality).
And there are clear differences in the underlying ideologies and economic policies as well. That is, whether they are positive or critical of capitalism. In other words, lefty-wingers typically hold anti-capitalist views and are considered ideologically close to socialism or communism.
Although they are already referred to by the old media using “pejorative terms”, their political ideology fits perfectly with that of a left-wing organization. And the democracy they advocate is strictly about equality of outcome.
In fact, since the Japan Federation of Commercial Broadcast Workers’ Unions (JFBCWU) loudly proclaims its opposition to the Henoko relocation on its own website, this stance may simply be a matter of course for them.

There are no licenses or national certifications required to call oneself a media outlet.
All we have to do is claim that we are media. In fact, new groups calling themselves media have emerged on YouTube and are participating in press conferences and the like.
In other words, there is no problem with not treating the old media as media. You can stop calling them the old media and refer to them as political groups instead.

Finally, let’s talk about Doshisha International High School.

As the details of this incident gradually become clear, it is evident that Doshisha International High School bears significant responsibility.
This incident involving the loss of a precious young life with a future ahead of her is not simply a tragic incident that occurred in the educational environment.
We feel that this incident can be considered a human-made disaster, as Doshisha International High School used the guise of “peace education” to manipulatively impose its political ideology on students.
It seems the school and civic activists have had a long-standing relationship, and the school directly requested that students board the protest boat of Henoko Offshore Helicopter Base Opposition Association for this incident as well.
It has been reported that this likely violates Article 14, Paragraph 2 of Basic Act on Education.
Is it just a possibility that they violated it ?

We believe it is a clear violation for the school to have students participate in protest activities under the guise of “peace education.”  Especially since this has been going on over many years, we believe that there is no excuse for claiming “we didn’t know”.
Also, reportedly the teacher was not on board this protest boat. While various reasons have been mentioned, we believe it was because of the Basic Act on Education, and the school wanted to present it as though the students had boarded the boat on their own initiative.

Basic Act on Education

(Political Education)
Article 14(1)The political literacy necessary for sensible citizenship must be valued in education.
(2)The schools prescribed by law shall refrain from political education in favor of or against any specific political party, and from other political activities.

If the judiciary determines that this does not violate the law, please clearly explain the reasoning behind that decision.
If the government does not impose severe punishment for this incident, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology will likely be labeled a ministry that should be dismantled, just like the Ministry of Finance.
