The old media and Diet members strongly supporting China

We often see news reports stating that China is interfering in other countries’ politics.Considering the current situation in South Korea, it’s easy to understand that this is indeed the case.
And from this incident, we feel Japan is also in a seriously dangerous state.

I see articles and programs that criticize Prime Minister Takaichi for China’s threats and harassment toward Japan.
As we have mentioned before, statements made on TV programs and in news articles should be treated as the official stance of that media outlet. In other words, these media outlets are criticizing Japan’s Prime Minister because they actually support China’s threats and harassment.

The incident began when Councilor Okada of the Constitutional Democratic Party repeatedly cited specific place names and asked Prime Minister Takaichi for her opinion.
Even so, Prime Minister Takaichi never mentioned any specific place names herself, instead speaking only in hypothetical terms.
Later, Councilor Okada claimed in a newspaper interview as if shifting the blame, “I thought (Prime Minister Takaichi’s statements) were problematic and immediately changed the subject.” However, it did not feel like he changed the subject.  Rather, he persistently asked the question multiple times, so I cannot believe his word “problematic.”
Once again, Prime Minister Takaichi never mentioned any specific place names. She was merely speaking hypothetically about national defense.

We don’t know what their intentions were, but we feel China’s threats and harassment began after the Asahi Shimbun published the article stating that “military force could be used if recognized.”
For example, the post by Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Osaka that could be interpreted as suggesting murder was made as a reply to the Asahi Shimbun article.
People have different opinions about these sequence of events, so I shouldn’t state our opinion.

China is employing economic harassment including private exchanges, such as a “de facto halted import of marine products” and “the refraining from travel to Japan”.
Chinese goal probably is to force Prime Minister Takaichi resign by lowering her approval ratings.
In fact, many of the old media outlets are exaggerating Japan’s economic damage in a manner that seems to support China’s harassment.

Additionally, a commentator on a TV program stated that “This is human-made disaster (caused by Prime Minister Takaichi).”
This statement came during a report about how Japan’s tourism industry is damaged by the refraining from travel to Japan.

China has a One-Dragon model. For example, when tourists from China visit Japan, Chinese travel agencies coordinate with their own group’s hotels, buses, restaurants, souvenir shops, and other businesses, with most services provided by Chinese companies.
Additionally, it also reportedly includes “unlicensed taxis and illegal private lodgings.”
This model means that even when tourists come to Japan from China, it becomes an “internal business” that keeps the economy flowing within Chinese companies.
Also, this model is said to provide little benefit to Japanese-owned tourism industry businesses.
From these past circumstances, it’s understandable if it seems this TV program was advocating for the Chinese companies included in the One-Dragon model.

And haven’t you seen this type of argument somewhere before ?
There are people who say the US military bases in Japan and the Self-Defense Forces are unnecessary, claiming that “these bases are the reason Japan gets attacked, so the bases are unnecessary”.
Somehow, they never mention blaming the countries that attack just because bases exist in other nations. Instead, they blame Japan for building bases for its own defense. In other words, these people accept that countries will attack just because bases exist in other nations.
Which nation’s perspective is this ?
And while they claim they are against war, they are accepting that the other side attacks Japan.
These people might also accept Russia’s invasion of Ukraine after the Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances.

In democratic nations, individual tourism is one of the rights granted to citizens. And the nation does not deprive individuals of their rights on the grounds of political conflict.
This incident has once again proven that China does not grant its citizens true freedom.
In other words, the (publicly expressed) sentiments of the people are being controlled.
However, the old media and left-wing opposition parties seem to support this national system, never mentioning the deprivation of citizens’ rights.
In fact, they definitively blame the Japanese Prime Minister, even though Japan has done nothing against China.
This behavior makes it seem as if their ideal nation is China.

China and the old media’s major miscalculation is the existence of Prime Minister Takaichi and the conservative opposition parties.
It is Prime Minister Takaichi’s stand firm against China’s unwarranted threats and harassment, and the existence of opposition parties supporting that Prime Minister Takaichi.
Regarding this “de facto halting imports of marine products” and “the refraining from travel to Japan”, voices of welcome are emerging not only from Diet members but also from the citizens. And there are even voices suggesting we should use this opportunity to break away from dependence on China. In fact, Prime Minister Takaichi’s approval ratings are rising.
However, we must not forget that China is a violent dictatorship.

People’s ways of thinking are diverse, so it’s not surprising that there are individuals who strongly support such a dictatorship.
However, their way of thinking is completely different from ours, and even if we heard their reasons for supporting it, we probably couldn’t understand them.
We believe that if the current Chinese response is a human-made disaster as commentators suggest, that criticism should be directed toward China itself.
